The literature review of Assistive listening devices :
Carbon transmitter is the first electronic device, which was invented in 1870 by Thomas Edison, who experienced hearing loss firsthand.This device amplified the signal and increased the level by 15 decibels, even though, the amplification should reach to 30db to allow people who have hearing loss to hear better, the invention of the carbon transmitter for the telephone cover the way for the technology that would eventually be used for the carbon hearing aids.Despite that, there was no ideal as result of the limited frequency range and tendency to produce a scratchy sound, carbon hearing aids were in use in 1902 until the development of the next wave technology.
Personally, This is one of the fundamental assistive listening devices, because this device helped to target the problem that I focus on when it comes to my final design, precisely the issue of hearing low volume sounds.
