Literature Review of Assistive listening devices
Literature Review of Assistive listening devices:
In this literature review, I will provide a historical information about assistive listening devices and their impacts on our world, which changed disabled person lifestyle, by making them engaging in the society.
The history of hearing aids loss returns back hundreds of years and aims to correct hearing loss have been in existence since the very last person to cup their hand behind their ear.
The positive aspect of it is that hearing aids and other assistive devices have come along way since the first elementary attempts to improve hearing, however, if we consider looking back through the history of technological developments, Clearly it enables us to put or set up any complaints about modern hearing aid technology in clear stance.
Ear Trumpets:
In the beginning of 13th century, people who had hearing loss used to have horns of an animal such as, cows and rams as their main hearing device, but these horns did not last until the 18th century, where modern ear trumpet took place. Ear Trumpets were created in funnel-shaped form.It was the first attempt to invent a listening device.Although It did not escalate the sounds volume, it worked by combining the sound via a narrow tube into the ear.
On one hand, these ear trumpets and speaking tubes did not successfully work well, but on the other hand, ear trumpets did not prevent them from remaining the only option until electricity and the telephone were invented in the 19th century.
Personally, this invention is the foundation that other devices based on, because, without this device, the assistive listening devices would not progress any step further, as well as, this device informed me and gave a hint about my visualisation listening device that I want to design, that is the reason that made this device as the foundation of other devices.
